What’s My Story?
Since the age of 13, I’ve been interested in photography. After spending a summer in Denali National Park, my love of shooting the great outdoors ignited. From Canada, Washington State, and Oregon to Utah, my camera came with me on every adventure.
As I grew older and continued shooting in various ways, my passion refocused to adrenaline sports. From climbing to cycling and paddling, to whitewater kayaking, I've shot a wide variety of adventures over the years. As a volunteer firefighter I’ve also enjoyed capturing the danger and beauty of structure fires and wildfires, not to mention the hard working, dedicated firefighters that extinguish the flames.
Over the years I’ve been honored to shoot many weddings. Planning ahead of the big event, I love scouting the location and creating a strategy, considering each vantage point and angle. My biggest concern is that you have the most memorable day possible and that you don't have to worry about lifting a finger.
My style is to have fun and be creative while capturing the real life moments you want to remember. It’s my goal that your photos represent you and your personality, not just a posed image. If your friends look at any photographs I capture and say "that is so you”, I’ve done my job!
Why BlackFire Photography?
When I started this business in 2007, I wanted a unique business name that reflected the adrenaline sport photography I love shooting, my firefighting background and something that stood out and could be remembered.
The term “blackfire" is a firefighting phrase describing a situation where heavy, dense, black smoke is being emitted by a fire. This smoke is high velocity, turbulent, high volume, extremely dense, and it can be very hot. I picked this business name because of my firefighting background.
For that reason, BlackFire Photography is the result of multiple passions merging together and it’s a great reflection of how I see the world.
